just because ... I Love It!
To this image, I invite you to provide a caption, remark, or impression ... as your own "Inner Voice" dictates. Please do ... click on "comments" (below/right corner) and share the spontaneous remark that you have in mind ... right now!
I have always loved this picture. The little boy is praying in such earnest and yet there is a smirk hiding under there. I always end up with him praying for more Star Wars action figures so that he and Dennis can save the galaxy. His hound dog, he wants desperately to get that backyard squirrel.
"Thank you for this wonderful little boy who is my bestest pal and loves me with all his heart. And, please make sure he drops more off his dinner plate for me tomorrow."
and
"Thank you for my doggy, because he is my very best friend."
I know the unconditional love from a pet. It is truly one of the greatest gifts that can be given (and, yes, I say thanks for it every day). Sometimes, I honestly sit back and watch my dogs and think that they're the ones who truly have this life and living thing figured out, and we could learn a lot from them.
Merisi...You simply must have had a dog at some time in your experience. For, to have had one you would, most certainly, know that beseeching look that tugs at every chord of your heart when that pet is desiring a place beside you on the 'forbidden' furniture.
Ah, yes, Tati, you can see that prayer in your pet's eye every time you have a coveted morsel.
Isn't it a wonderful image Jules~? I have had it in my gallery for a long while. It always gives a smile when needed.
And there really is a synergy between a loved pet and us, isn't there, Friend Suldog? Thank you for your 'take' on it, Jim.
Spoken like One who knows the dynamic in play here Misty. We do get that close in purpose, don't we?
I can still recall some days when Rusty and I would share that prayer, SweetVi. I like that recollection ... thank you!
What could possibly be more accurate ... when you have been blessed with a canine partnership ... you know the legitimacy of this unspoken prayer that is a constant between the two of you. Thank you Josie.
The very possibility of bringing a smile to you, My Dear Jillie, a person whose life is so immersed in making better the lives of others ... makes my heart smile. I am delighted that you enjoyed this (one of my 'go to' images that I count on for an occasional smile myself).
(and the 'prayer' that you 'hear' is too cool! [smile])
Wonderful!! Such a comfortable and 'natural' perspective you offer, my lovely Cath-Daughter. You made me go back and check their expressions ... and I cansee them saying your words. [smile]
shared prayer"Please let us bring a smile to one of Your Special People." And, once again, a prayer is answered as DonMillsDiva(aka)Kelly says "love this picture - it made me smile!"
There you go, then, Dear fxsMom ... we 'hear' yet another translation of their portrayal. I do like this! This business of all of us sharing in a moment together. Thank you, Darling Friend, for your 'presence.'
The only thing that came to mind when looking at this picture in unconditional love from both animal and child. It's too bad as we age we sometimes lose that in ourselves.
Hope your doing well! Trying to play catch up on everyones blogs!!
A Contrare', Sweetest Crystal, this is always a matter of choice for us all. We may not have dominion over the circumstances that surround us, but we have the exclusive right and privilege of choice in our response to Love's impulse. Insist! And your heart remains tender, responsive, and intentionally unconditional in its love responses. Choose 'hardening, and the atrophy begins.
Yours is far too beautiful a Heart to even consider 'hardening.'

Subsequent to twenty years of marriage, and a career in management in the Financial Services Industry (investments, life insurance, and financial planning), I have invested myself in the pursuit of what Joseph Campbell calls "My Bliss." And my bliss is in living, loving, writing, and mentoring.
I find joy in awakening Imagination and endorsing the expression of Emotion in children ... as well as arousing Emotion and awakening child-worthy Imagination in adults.
I live a very simple (some would say primitive) lifestyle. In my solitary and simple life, I enjoy genuine, intimate, and meaningful friendships.
My dream is to write a syndicated column responding to life and living questions posed by individuals seeking a responsible grasp of their personhood and a fuller enjoyment of their world. I would inhabit a cabin or similar place of dwelling, overlooking some body of water, where I will spend tranquil and gentle hours rowing, writing, drawing, and communing with Life.
With their "putting out the 'Welcome' mat," by Listing me on their blogs, these folks have inclined me to visit them Daily.

about my "lady muse"
You will hear me, quite often, make mention of ... and give respectful credit to ... my Muse (oft referred to, by me, as my Lady Muse.)
In Greek mythology, the Muses are Spirits, who embody the arts and inspire the creation process.
In the Christian doctrine, the ‘Holy Spirit’ is depicted as a 'Counselor' or 'Helper', guiding people in the way of the truth. The Holy Spirit enables a person to access his or her own innate abilities. Through the influence of the Holy Spirit a person sees more clearly the world around him or her and can use his or her mind in ways that exceed his or her usual capacity. Earlier in my life-walk, I was comfortable with this “Holy Spirit” verbiage. I now find it exclusionary. That is, it excludes others of other faiths and persuasions. And, inasmuch as I have come to a personal recognition of the universality of such an influencing ‘Inner Voice’ … I am far more comfortable with my use of the term ‘Muse.’
My personal references to my ‘Lady Muse’ always convey my appreciative respect for Life’s voice (without regard for any single sectarian label), ‘heard’ by my consciousness and made clear in my awareness. My use of the feminine in referring to my ‘Muse’ simply reflects my comfort with a feminine ‘Presence’ in my mental and spiritual functioning.
My ‘Muse’ may speak to me through the voice of another, a book, poem, song, some element of Nature … countless ways. I have found that all that is needed for me to ‘hear’Life speaking to me through that ‘Still Small Voice’ within my Being, is my willingness to “Be still and know …”

"comments" and "responses"
Allow me to tell you how I approach this business of "commenting" on your articles.
And how I respond to "comments" that you graciously make on my submissions.
Deliberately ... caringly ... and ONLY after understanding the definition of what my Spirit wants me to see ... I write.
So, I read what you say. I go to your Profile (though I have seen it before.) I refresh my sense of "who you are." I return to what you wrote. I listen for a clear 'voice' from within my Self. And THEN (and ONLY then) I write a "comment" or respond to one.
Yes! It takes time. It takes effort. It takes an investment in You.
But to do less ... would be to show less respect for who you are and what you think ... than I could ever allow my Self to know.
So, I beg your patience, if am a bit slow in my comments or responses. Like the old tale of the Tortoise and the Hare ... this old Tortoise will eventually get there.

Great job on the pun Hilary!
