A Moment of Your Time (and Consideration), Please

i said years ago and i will say it again. colin powell impresses me and i'd give HIM very serious consideration if he ever ran for president. the man is eloquent, substantive, experienced, able and willing to think for himself even when it puts him in opposition to his party..but not for the sake of divisiveness, rather for conscience.

i deeply appreciated that he would not be reduced to a sound bite in answering brokaw's question but that he took time to present his decision making process in a rational, orderly, logical manner. his points were all well made and nicely backed up with succinct examples.

i will also say i intend to write in a candidate rather than vote for obama or mccain, but i so very much appreciate that you took time to share this with us. oh that more voices like powell's were heard during this whole wretched campaign...

I was compelled to share General Powell's gentle, thoughtful, and well-studied insights, in part, because of my respect for his willingness to apply whatever he can say or do, toward the best interests of the Whole of his nation. He does not allow his intimate knowledge of and personal awareness of the workings of our oft-flawed political process to hinder or discourage his willingness to apply whatever resources or assets are at his disposal to accomplish whatever good he feels is possible.

I am sure that he knows individuals whose names would be well placed as "write-in" candidates. Yet he musters all at his disposal and makes whatever compromises (as evidenced by his departure from his long-honored devotion to his Political Party), he feels necessary for the best Good of the Nation whose best interests he places above his own personal inclinations and history of allegiance. To be able to respond favorably to One's personal assessment of "Did I use whatever resources or tools at my disposal toward a constructive and effective accomplishment of the better choice?", with a "Yes I did!" seems to me to be the best outcome, at end of day.

I thank you for your partnership and friendship in this discourse, My Dearest of Friends, Sweet Lime.

Lovingly ...

Wonderful news for the Obama campaign, isn't it?

Very few people in political office impress me... Colin Powell, John McCain (from Feingold-McCain era), Kofi Anan... It's the breadth of character not his party affiliation nor his religious leanings.

Thank you, John Michael, for sharing another thought provoking item.

If I was American - I would absolutley give my vote to Mr. Obama. I hope he is your next president. I wish this with all my heart.

Mr. McCain and Palin scare me very badly. Being partners across a thin line here in Canada - we watch with growing apprehension the arrival of your voting day.

I sincerely hope that Americans can see their way clear to voting for the best man for this job and for the world. Mr. Obama.

It makes me feel so good to be in harmony with One, in whom I have such high regard, and hold in such high esteem, as I do you, Precious Aims. That silly little line, drawn in the imaginations of map-makers, is no barrier to our unity of Spirit!

I love you so ...

Well I came to this a bit late after posting but I have to say, I agree 100% with Lime's comment. What a rational, reasoned man Colin Powell is and thank you for sharing this. When he said (words to the effect) "the correct answer should be 'Does it [being Muslim] matter?'" I openly sat in front of my screen and applauded.

Well done. To Colin Powell and to you John-Michael for sharing this.
