Downy Nest

Light, soft, and welcoming,
are these gentle recollections.
The remaining 'Feathers’ of memories …
residuals of visitations.

Having loved, cared for, and nurtured,
each, according to need and desire …
Mine was the Gift of enabling,
their Individual flights, to new Worlds.

Life’s ‘injured Birds’
visited upon my personal World …
Each and All strengthened and readied,
have flown to fulfillment of hopes and dreams.

And now, in sweet repose, my Heart delights,
in the comfort of my downy nest of reminiscences.
Wrapped in the grateful understanding,
that I have, indeed, known True Love.

That's a beautiful way to look at an "empty" nest! Not what has gone but what was. As always, John-Michael, your writing is profound and lovely.

I like You!! Yep! NiteByrd Darlin', you are an unfailing source of happiness and peace to me. When I consider the "emptiness" of my 'nest,' thoughts of You (which are always readily present) provide a companionable comfort.

Simply stated ... I love You! [smile]

How, Darling Annette, can I convey the Gift that your thoughts give to my Heart? I think of skipping. Yes, indeed! You make me want to skip happily along my life's Way. A light and unfettered moment of carefree Joy. That is what You, Dear One, bring.

A waltz! You, Dear Super Groovy Friend, have my Heart waltzing in enchanted time and space. Your charming Presence lifts me and transports me over the surface of all that would encumber. I do, indeed, relish moments with You.

A most lovely post, John-Michael!

Such beautiful and heartfelt sentiments. 'True Love' in sweet repose!... Very nice!
We are the most fortunate of souls, if we able to experience that!

Yes, this is a lovely way to look at the empty nest, but also dear friends who weave in and out of our lives, leaving their feathers of memories behind.

When I was able to declare, "I now know ... I understand the Power behind the Makers of music ... the magic underlying the Poets attempts to express!" I was at peace with this wondrous Blessing that is to have loved and been loved. You spoke of it so perfectly, Precious Calli. And I am, most certainly, fortunate in this eternal Awareness. And free to speak, knowingly, of Love.

Loving You ...

'Tis richer (and far more enjoyable) my Life is, with the enhancement of You, My Precious Lime, to know as "Friend." I am ever-grateful for your Presence in, and Blessing to, my personal World.

I love You ...
