Expectations

When I’m expecting something,
Disappointment is what I get.

While, when anticipating nothing,
Everything ... is better yet.

And one would EXPECT that, after 3 score years ... I would remember this! [sigh][grin]

too true. Like, when you have a big night planned expecting it to be fun, it isn't. The unplanned nights are the best!

Hooray!!! It is so absolute! Thank you for your validation.

Affirmation! So un-EXPECTED, and so appreciated. Thank you, each.

I think that's true but I also think that when we anticipate goodness, goodness is what we get. When we anticipate struggle, struggle comes quickly. I find this especially true in parenting my four kids.

I found your blog via Tati's and I'm glad I did. Check out campaignforhappy.blogspot.com as well.

Thank You (BIG TIME) Katie. When the core message of my life is affirmed by another... I am filled with joy. Your BEing has blessed my BEing with your blog, and this note.

Ah, while I'm expecting some-thing, any-thing is fulfilling...much like your anticipating nothing I suppose...

so very nice to make your acquaintance John-Michael. I appreciated the comments you left on my blog and I trust that you can fully understand the respect I have for the gift of Dadship you extended to three lucky girls...it's recognizing the gift of self that supercedes all other things imaginable. Salutations to you ~

BERNADETTE ... I too am impressed by the influence that our anticipations have on those around us. What we transmit to our world is an awesome responsibility, indeed.

JONI ... Thank you, Dear One, you touched me and blessed my heart.

This reminds me of what my ex-husband used to say (no, there are no hard feelings between us). I thought it was a great piece of advice, so I still carry it with me - "Expect the worse. Yet, hope for the best. That way you won't be disappointed."

I should have followed this piece of advice recently. I allowed my hopes to go through the roof when I thought I may have a photo published in a magazine. Later, I was told that my photos were amazing, yet, my camera does not produce the quality of photos required for publication. I am usually guarded and do not get my hopes up for fear of disappointment. In this instance, I really let myself down.

Well, it seems I'm getting into a bad habit of leaving overly lengthy comments on your blog. I hope you'll overlook that, because I have subscribed to your blog and plan to be a very regular visitor.

You, My Dear, are speaking to a "coffee bistro" sort of man ... not a "drive thru" sort. I love to waltz, for that is the tempo and mood of my Spirit.

So, sit. Stay a spell. And speak whatever and all that your Spirit wants my Spirit to hear.

We are in this living thing together. Let's enjoy it to its fullest.

(I am so delighted and complimented that you like my mind's little meanderings ... and will be back. Thank You!)

From growing up an orphan, I have always held the motto close to my heart that says, "Expect the bad so you are prepared, then if the good comes it will be a sweet delight." This poem seems to fit so well into that but says it much prettier. :)

[big smile here!] [song in head] "You say 'po-ta-to', I say 'po-tah-toe' ..." How I do love Fred Astaire! And I hear the song saying that one of our voices is never "prettier" than the other ... we still enjoy sharing life's "french-fries" together.

May it ever be so!
