"The power of pawsitive thinking."
(my inner voice always thinks in puns) ;)
OK Hilary ... I will 'see' your "pawsitive thinking", and 'raise' you to "pawsitive thanking" ... Your move! [HUGE happy grin]
(Hey! this is fun!)
(and, by the way Hilary, I love You!)
"Oh, pleeeease Lord, tell him to let me lie beside him tonight!"
"... and bless mommy, and daddy..."
"....please please pleeeeaase let him drop his cookie tomorrow!"
Great job on the pun Hilary!
I have always loved this picture. The little boy is praying in such earnest and yet there is a smirk hiding under there. I always end up with him praying for more Star Wars action figures so that he and Dennis can save the galaxy.
His hound dog, he wants desperately to get that backyard squirrel.
Boy: ... and bless my dog, Fred. Let him find a big bone. Amen.
Dog: Please let him be praying for a big bone for me! Please, please, please!
"Thank you for this wonderful little boy who is my bestest pal and loves me with all his heart. And, please make sure he drops more off his dinner plate for me tomorrow."
and
"Thank you for my doggy, because he is my very best friend."
I know the unconditional love from a pet. It is truly one of the greatest gifts that can be given (and, yes, I say thanks for it every day). Sometimes, I honestly sit back and watch my dogs and think that they're the ones who truly have this life and living thing figured out, and we could learn a lot from them.
"Dear God, please let it stop raining so we can go outside and play together tomorrow."
"Friends with God"
Merisi...You simply must have had a dog at some time in your experience. For, to have had one you would, most certainly, know that beseeching look that tugs at every chord of your heart when that pet is desiring a place beside you on the 'forbidden' furniture.
Ah, yes, Tati, you can see that prayer in your pet's eye every time you have a coveted morsel.
Isn't it a wonderful image Jules~? I have had it in my gallery for a long while. It always gives a smile when needed.
And there really is a synergy between a loved pet and us, isn't there, Friend Suldog? Thank you for your 'take' on it, Jim.
Spoken like One who knows the dynamic in play here Misty. We do get that close in purpose, don't we?
I can still recall some days when Rusty and I would share that prayer, SweetVi. I like that recollection ... thank you!
Nothing could be more true, Beth.
"...and please, God, keep my best buddy safe."
What could possibly be more accurate ... when you have been blessed with a canine partnership ... you know the legitimacy of this unspoken prayer that is a constant between the two of you. Thank you Josie.
And please please please let there be a milk bone under my dog bed!!!
That is a GREAT picture! Makes me smile ;o)
Mutt - Dear God, please make the boy keep his feet still.
Boy - Dear God, please make the mutt lie on his own side of the bed.
God - dear children, please just go to sleep!
The very possibility of bringing a smile to you, My Dear Jillie, a person whose life is so immersed in making better the lives of others ... makes my heart smile. I am delighted that you enjoyed this (one of my 'go to' images that I count on for an occasional smile myself).
(and the 'prayer' that you 'hear' is too cool! [smile])
Wonderful!! Such a comfortable and 'natural' perspective you offer, my lovely Cath-Daughter. You made me go back and check their expressions ... and I cansee them saying your words. [smile]
Thank you Darlin'.
Lord, please let us get more treats!
Hugs,
Rose
I just love this picture, but I can't think of anything that hasn't already been said...
great fun!
Prayers of The Innocent
And the beauty of that prayer, Sweet Rose, is in that either (or both) of them may be praying it. Thank you!
And your sweet presence, Dear Joni, just added to the fun. I thank you!
BEAUTIFUL!!, Jenera! Thank you, Dear One!
"Can I have that biscuit now please?"
There are some prayers that are pretty much a certainty, aren't there, Crystal?
Let's hear it for 'the reliable basics.'
Love you ...
I've read all the comments and I can't possibly come up with one better - love this picture - it made me smile!
shared prayer"Please let us bring a smile to one of Your Special People." And, once again, a prayer is answered as DonMillsDiva(aka)Kelly says "love this picture - it made me smile!"
I love You, Kelly!
"I'm not sure why he is doing this but it looks very important so I must do it"
So, "Doggie see, Doggie do", eh?
There you go, then, Dear fxsMom ... we 'hear' yet another translation of their portrayal. I do like this! This business of all of us sharing in a moment together. Thank you, Darling Friend, for your 'presence.'
I love You, Ya know.
Boy "Bless mom and dad and rover..."
Rover "Woof, woof, woof..."
I just love the picture! It whispers of sweet innocence of days gone by.
Lauren
Lauren, you evoke a wistful sigh of sweet recall.
So nice to hear your take on this favorite photo.
I look forward to our next visit at the Library. Lovin' Ya ...
boy: Dear God, please bless my doggie.
dog: Dear God, please bless my best friend.
AMEN
And in the blessing enjoyed in their "mutuality of purpose", don't you suppose, Jeannie, their prayer is already answered?!
A sweet consideration from a heart that I have come to know to be sweet, as well. Thank you, Dear Friend.
Loving You ...
The only thing that came to mind when looking at this picture in unconditional love from both animal and child. It's too bad as we age we sometimes lose that in ourselves.
Hope your doing well! Trying to play catch up on everyones blogs!!
A Contrare', Sweetest Crystal, this is always a matter of choice for us all. We may not have dominion over the circumstances that surround us, but we have the exclusive right and privilege of choice in our response to Love's impulse. Insist! And your heart remains tender, responsive, and intentionally unconditional in its love responses. Choose 'hardening, and the atrophy begins.
Yours is far too beautiful a Heart to even consider 'hardening.'
I love You Crystal.
